Eden Place at Beulah Crossing Selected as Site to Launch New Initiative to Boost Homeownership

Mayor Vincent C. Gray; Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III; Mike Golden, Greater Washington, D.C. Region President, Wells Fargo; Michael L. Forster, Chief Financial Officer, NeighborWorks America; Reverend Jim Dickerson, Founder and Chair of Manna, Inc. and community stakeholders will hold a press conference at Eden Place at Beulah Crossing to announce the launch of their CityLIFTSM homeownership assistance program for Washington, D.C. and Prince George’s County, MD. The $7 million innovative sustainable housing program is an initiative to help revitalize neighborhoods and will provide prospective homebuyers with the opportunity to see if they qualify for down payment assistance of $20,000. The CityLIFTSM program is designed to provide down payment assistance and homebuyer education programs in areas most impacted by the financial crisis. The program was developed in response to the 2012 settlement with the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and is a collaboration between Wells Fargo Bank N.A. and Neighborworks America. House of Lebanon Groundbreaking with DC’s Mayor Vincent Gray

Mayor Vincent Gray, Councilman Michael Brown, Rev. H. Lionel Edmonds, members of Washington Interfaith Network (WIN), financial partners, and community residents and stakeholders attended the groundbreaking for House of Lebanon on August 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Located at 27 O St., NW at the intersection of O Street and North Capitol Street in the Shaw neighborhood in Washington, DC, the development is the adaptive reuse of the historic MM Washington Career High School. The redevelopment of the site will create 82 affordable rental senior apartments and 12,000 square feet of community space for use by residents, community members and non-profit organizations. Developed as a partnership of MissionFirst Housing Development Corporation, UrbanMatters Development Partners L.L.C., and Mt. Lebanon Community Development Corporation, the project is a public/private partnership that collaboratively executes the mission of the District of Columbia Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development to create and preserve opportunities for affordable housing and economic development and to revitalize undeserved communities in the District of Columbia.
